Opennessence was born from one hope, two major strands, three primary values, four major books, and five fingers. My hope was to offer my own kids values by which to live. The two strands were the great Greek values and the wild fun ideas found in the Benjamin Hoff’s book The Tao of Pooh. The three primary values/virtues were the great Greek searches into “good, truth, and beauty.” The four books were Benjamin Hoff's The Tao of Pooh, Huston Smith's The World's Religions, Ken Wilbur's A Theory of Everything, and Mortimer Adler's Six Great Ideas. The five fingers were the digits that kids have on their hands everywhere they go. Opennessence emerged, or itself opened, from this aforementioned long search along the “natural way” or Tao — back to our origins and essence. :)
