When Will We Be Post-Color?

Whites aren’t white and blacks aren’t black. Those labels are explosively discriminatory by design and still today.

Humans do come in many shades/hues from albino (near translucent) light to deep burnt umber. There are even blue humans.

The variation is how much melanin there is in skin. Most people have spots - moles, age spots, sun damage spots, and/or freckles.

Low melanin to high melanin will need to become a new scientific way for us to talk about color in a way that recognizes our ‘color’ variations without the stigma of old racial categories. There are ‘whites’ who are darker than Africans and many African-Americans. Most of this categorization is unnecessary but you know there are weirdness issues when you consider how they gather ‘race’ (ethnicity) data in surveys.

Hopefully, all discrimination will finally be over at the same time that we realize there is no good way today to ‘classify people’ racially, and there never was. As interracial marriages and parentage increase, it all becomes non-sense on a scale that not even supposedly ‘well-informed and good intentioned people’ can make any sense out of this mixiness. The ‘Syn Thesis’ claims that all things human have been and are mixed; and therefore, are only separated in an environment embedded with and that embraces ignorance.

‘Tribalism’ and ‘peoplism’ did exist in the ancient world. Modern racism came from the Scientific Revolution. It and the Enlightenment doubled down on racism and sexism. Not everyone in either suffered these mental-conscience illnesses, but enough to keep them as cancers in those periods and societies.

To confuse things more, Ethiopians don’t consider themselves as ‘black.’ Africa has many. many groups of different ethnicities and ancestral language groups, origins, and shades, and they have been mixing for centuries — including Europeans in Southern Africa for over 500 years.

Let Moorfield Storey’s life to be a lesson for you. He is one of the four founders of the NAACP — National Association for the Advancement of Colored People — two who were ‘black’ and two who were ‘white.’

There has been a struggle among feminist movements, black movements, and religious groups (Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Muslims …and more) as they struggle for empowerment and their own advancement. The real problem is that they often seek to discriminate even as they seek to get equality for themselves. Rather than trying to ‘expand the pie’ of civilization’s offerings, they seek to displace someone else so they can replace them in the ‘center.’

‘Black Lives Matters,’ and the great dispute over it, shows how we have made little progress in the areas of skin labels, tolerance inclusivity, and ‘civil rights’ expansion'. It is a linguistic claim and request to just be included in the ‘human pie.’ Many whites pushed back and claimed that it sought to push them out so that blacks could take their place. Zero-sum thinking lingers on in the minds of the unenlightened and small-minded.

Let’s hope that ‘might makes white’ ceases to be a human mantra.

Light huemans and dark huemans from mimes to people using tanning beds can all be treated equally.

Most mammalian species come in the same shades from light to dark. They have never sent themselves backwards by making fake social constructs out of the variations.

Ask any sports team, variations are a strength.

Hopefully, the NAACP with both be unnecessary AND equally helping everybody in the near future.

‘Colorful people’ is our vibrancy. :)
