Anti-Wokism since 1865

Lead Belly (about the Scottsboro Boys) says “…stay woke, keep their eyes open” at 4:30.

From Black Codes to Jim Crow Laws to the battle against civil rights and equality to private school choice, the face of the anti-woke movement has shifted back and forth with slippery forked-tongue language and wordsmithing.

The great movie the Free State of Jones shows how the post-Civil War era started an anti-woke movement that Led Belly aches about.

Today, anti-inclusion, anti-immigrant, and anti-equality movements still seek to berate, belittle, and bully voices of liberty-justice-equality into silence.

As a majority declines and a plurality rises, the panic of the traditional-conservative-entitled class feels the slow and subtle surge of a call for the “opportunity for all” that they so heralded was available for the last few decades. The Wizard of Oz curtain is swung open and the VIP-tokenism offered really only to the privileged few is now reveled to those who “…stay woke, keep their eyes open.”

America’s new “Sons of Liberty” are still the radicals… …but they are now “woke” and not the long line of shifting quicksand racism, segregation, and mischievous-civic-dodgery that has guided America’s shortsightedness for over 150 years.

America’s future on the great contributions of all and not of wasting time, energy, and civic-space to holding certain people back. Everyone earns their way in America by helping make “way in America” for all other’s, and themselves, to succeed.

Synergy rather than suppression. Rights rather than racism. Equality rather than elitist entitlement.
