The OPEN Hand book is below.

The mural to the right looks over the UN Meditation Room in New York City. The room was envisioned and dedicated by the UN’s second secretary general Dag Hammaskjold. Here are the opening and closing lines of that dedication.

“We all have within us a center of stillness surrounded by silence.

There is an ancient saying that the sense of a vessel is not in its shell but in the void. So it is with this room. It is for those who come here to fill the void with what they find in their center of stillness.”

The power of the human hand is in the things that it can hold in its openness - tools, weapons, pens, and the hands of others. The human hand and the eye are often used to show what the human consciousness is thinking. “‘Eye‘ see your hands are open to me.” Light activates the eye of consciousness and a light hand accentuates the virtue of civilization.
