The Catholic Church Tried to Ban Vernacular Bibles

They did it to try to keep the people’s minds closed to any ideas but the Church’s. Freedom of Thought would be stifled?

They wanted to keep the people from reading the Bible so they could not come to their own conclusions.

After trying to ban the use of equality, social justice was likewise banned, then equity was battered, WOKE was targeted, and now DEI is under assault.

The attempt to outlaw 15 phrases in Indiana is a hyper violation of the “freedom of speech” based upon a complete ignorance of these phrases.

But it really harkens back to the Catholic Church’s prohibition of vernacular Bibles - like Martin Luther’s German Bible. After Luther, a flurry of new Bibles flowered all over Europe.

Literacy, language, and a legacy of free thinking were here to stay forever.
